On August 26, a regular meeting of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO was held under the leadership of the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov.

The meeting was attended by members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan responsible for UNESCO, heads and representatives of relevant ministries, departments of the country, public organizations and the executive secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.

There were two main issues on the agenda of the meeting:

  • Accession of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan to the UNESCO Global Youth Community.
  • Creation of a UNESCO club at the Aba Annayev International Horse Breeding Academy under the name “Ahal-Teke horses - Ambassadors of Peace”.

During the discussion of the first issue, the participants of the meeting noted that the accession of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan to the UNESCO Global Youth Community will expand the cooperation of the youth of our country with the youth of other countries of the world within the framework of the implementation of UNESCO programs and projects.

The second question was of particular interest to the meeting participants. They noted that the creation of a UNESCO club at the Aba Annayev International Horse Breeding Academy under the name “Ahal-Teke Horses – Ambassadors of the Peace” will contribute to the preservation and promotion of Ahal-Teke horse breeding, which is a unique cultural heritage of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, tasks were also identified to enhance cooperation with the UNESCO Global Youth Community in the framework of the implementation of the provisions of the “Strategy for International Cooperation of Youth of Turkmenistan for 2023-2030”.
