Trainings on response to emergencies in the field of public health were held in Turkmenistan

A series of two-day workshops were held in Ashgabat and five velayats of Turkmenistan during June on monitoring and responding to a public health emergency at the country's points of entry.

According to newscentralasia.net, the training participants included specialists from the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Turkmenistan and representatives of ministries and departments that monitor and respond to public health emergencies at points of entry.

The trainings were organized by the WHO Country Office together with the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.

Participants were given a preliminary test to determine their level of knowledge in this area.

During the workshops, the participants were presented with the National Plan of Action for Public Health Emergencies at the Points of Entry of Turkmenistan and the draft methodological manual on IPC.

Experts briefed the participants on methods for contact tracing, transportation of people with suspected infectious diseases to health facilities, and waste management and disposal at points of entry.

Finally, desk simulation sessions were held on how to respond to a public health emergency, the source notes.
