In Versailles, after reconstruction, the private apartments of the last Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, reopened to visitors, reports The Guardian.

The apartments include a boudoir, a library and a billiard room. The Queen hid in them during the Parisian campaign against Versailles in 1789.

The overhaul of the chambers of Marie Antoinette was part of a large-scale reconstruction project of Versailles in honor of its 400th anniversary. In addition to the Queen's apartments, village houses and the Petit Trianon Palace were also restored. For many years, historians and architects have been studying, using the notes and drawings of contemporaries, exactly how the interiors of Versailles could look like in the XVIII century.
