Ashgabat hosted a youth meeting to familiarize with the global activities for the implementation of the SDGs

In Ashgabat, in the UN building, a meeting was held with young people to familiarize themselves with global activities in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The meeting, aimed at emphasizing the important role of the younger generation in the implementation of the SDGs, was organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Turkmenistan jointly with the D. Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages as a continuation of a series of meetings within the framework of the Kitap-paýhasyň çeşmesi book club.

At this meeting, SDGs such as Goal 13 "Combat climate change", Goal 14 "Preserve marine ecosystems", Goal 15 "Preserve terrestrial ecosystems" and Goal 7 "Affordable and clean energy" were considered.

During the meeting with the youth, UNDP specialists discussed such topics as the role of the younger generation in combating the climate crisis, how to make cities more sustainable, reasonable consumption and waste management, the environmental crisis of the Aral Sea and international initiatives of Turkmenistan aimed at combating climate change.

The meeting on the SDGs was attended by students of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi, Magtymguly Turkmen State University and the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management.

The next meeting will be held in August and will address the implementation of Goal 8 "Decent work and economic growth", according to a UNDP press release.
