Lionel Messi has decided to join the American Football League (MLS) team Inter Miami, according to the press service of Barcelona.
“Jorge Messi, the player’s father and representative, has informed club president Joan Laporta of the player’s decision to move to Inter Miami despite having been presented with an offer from Barça.
President Laporta understands and respects Messi's decision to play in the league with lesser demands, away from the attention and pressure he has been subjected to in recent years," the Catalan club said in a statement.
Earlier, the well-known football journalist and insider Fabrizio Romano spoke about the agreement reached between Messi and Inter Miami.
And finally, Messi himself, in an interview with the Spanish press, confirmed that he would move to Inter Miami.
- Knowing that you will not return to Barcelona, we will ask where you will go. To Saudi Arabia? In Miami?
- I decided to go to Miami. I'm still not sure if the deal is 100% closed or something is missing, but well, we decided to continue the route there, - said the player.
We remind that the last club of the 2022 world champion in the Argentine national team was the French PSG. The striker left the Parisian club as a free agent.
