A conference dedicated to the World Environment Day was held in the city of Dashoguz.

The meeting was organized by the Dashoguz Velayat Association of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan, the Velayat Committee of the Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan and the Velayat Council of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly.

The conference brought together representatives of the velayat division of the Society for the Protection of Nature of Turkmenistan, employees of the Kaplangyr Reserve, specialists from the Dashoguz velayat forestry to discuss the ongoing comprehensive work on the ecology of the region. They also talked about further ways to preserve and improve the environment.

According to the publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age", thanks to state investments in the Dashoguz velayat, a number of large projects have been successfully implemented to improve the reclamation state of lands, prevent their salinization and waterlogging, increase the efficiency of water use, and landscaping the territory.

One of the examples of environmental work was the creation of a buffer forest zone on the eastern shore of Lake Sarykamysh, namely, on the Botendag Upland, which can prevent the transfer of dust and salts to the territory of Turkmenistan and neighboring states and contribute to the enrichment of the local flora and fauna.

Salt-resistant and soil-fixing crops have been planted here, kilometers of power lines and irrigation networks have been laid, and various necessary technical communications have been built.

The participants of the conference emphasized that representatives of various age groups of the population and various fields of activity take an active part in environmental work. So, for example, specialists of the individual enterprise "Ak Durna" make their feasible contribution, growing and annually releasing tons of fry of some types of freshwater fish into various reservoirs of the velayat.
