Uzbekistan will host the Asian Belt Wrestling Championship with the participation of the team of Turkmenistan

On May 20-25, 2023, Jizzakh (Uzbekistan) will host the Asian Belt Wrestling Championship among adults for the first time, the National News Agency of Uzbekistan reports.

Athletes from about 20 countries will take part in the continental championship, including Uzbekistan, India, Iran, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

At the Asian Championship, which is part of the United World Wrestling (UWW) series of tournaments, men will compete in weight categories up to 57, 62, 68, 75, 82, 90, 100 kg and over 100 kg, and women in weight categories up to 52, 58 , 66, 76 and over 79 kg.

Also, according to the regulations, within the framework of the competition, the Asian Championship will be held in such sports as Cossack Kuresi and Alysh.

Currently, the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan is actively preparing for the Asian Championship at a high organizational level.

The organizers of the competition are the United World Wrestling (UWW), the Asian Belt Wrestling Confederation, the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Khokimiyat and the Prosecutor's Office of the Jizzakh region, the Belt Wrestling Federation of Uzbekistan, as well as a number of other ministries and organizations.
