President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping invited President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Central Asia-China Summit to be held on May 18-19, 2023 in Xi'an. The corresponding invitation was conveyed to the head of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat by the Special Representative of the President of the People's Republic of China, First Deputy Foreign Ministry of China in the rank of Minister Ma Zhaoxu, the news program "Watan" of the Turkmen television reported.
He noted that China attaches great importance to the further strengthening of traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan, including in the "Central Asia - China" format, and looks forward to the participation of the President of Turkmenistan in this event.
It is expected that the leaders of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will also take part in the summit.
The head of state thanked the leadership of the People's Republic of China for the invitation to take part in the upcoming summit, stressing that the steady development and strengthening of relations with China, which are now acquiring new meaning and content, are one of the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy strategy.
During the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Ma Zhaoxu discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation, which has great potential for building mutually beneficial ties, taking into account modern realities. The interlocutors noted that their countries are productively cooperating in the trade and economic sphere, the fuel and energy complex and other sectors, where, taking into account the existing potential and opportunities, the application of common efforts is seen as the most effective.
