The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has discussed with the Portuguese Football Federation the possibility of hosting the Champions League final instead of Istanbul, reports TASS with reference to the Daily Mail newspaper.

The report notes that UEFA fears possible unrest in Türkiye due to the upcoming presidential elections, the second round of which should be held on May 28, and the Champions League final on June 10.

According to the source, the UEFA leadership held informal talks with representatives of the Portuguese Football Federation regarding the possible transfer of the decisive match of the tournament from Türkiye to Lisbon.

At the same time, the Union of European Football Associations considers the postponement of the Champions League final undesirable, since the final of the most prestigious club tournament has already been postponed from Istanbul twice - in 2020 and 2021 - due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier in the first semi-final of the Champions League, “Real Madrid” drew with “Manchester City” (1:1), and “Milan” lost to “Inter” (0:2).
