The Turkmen delegation took part in the meeting of special representatives for Afghanistan in Qatar

The meeting of Special Representatives for Afghanistan under the auspices of the UN Secretary General took place on May 1-2 in Qatar. Turkmenistan was represented at the meeting by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vepa Hajyyev.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on the current military-political, economic and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

As Vepa Hajyyev noted, Turkmenistan carries out consistent activities to provide assistance to the Afghan people based on the principles of good neighborliness and humanism. As examples, the head of the Turkmen delegation cited the implementation of TAPI and TAP projects aimed at developing the economy of neighboring Afghanistan.

It is also noted that as part of the participation in the meeting of special representatives for Afghanistan, the delegation of Turkmenistan held talks with the UN Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Haled Hiari, who emphasized the purposeful activities of Turkmenistan to ensure peace and security, as well as sustainable development in the region.
