The WHO-2023 European Immunization Week has started today in Turkmenistan.

As it is known, every year in the last week of April in the European Region, the World Health Organization organizes Immunization Week to raise awareness of the importance of immunization in preventing disease and protecting life.

Immunization is one of the strategic directions for the implementation of the State Program “Saglyk” (“Health”), the key priorities of which are to significantly improve the health of the population, increase the average life expectancy of citizens, as well as to provide medical services that meet international standards.

It should be noted that Turkmenistan is the first and only country where vaccination of the population against infectious diseases is carried out free of charge.

The government of Turkmenistan fully finances the purchase of all vaccines and makes them free for children. Quality vaccines protect against 14 diseases.

Turkmenistan demonstrates one of the highest levels of immunization in Central Asia and worldwide. This is evidenced by the Certificate of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), received in July 2019, for maintaining high rates of immunization of children in the framework of the state-funded relevant National Program.

Its successful implementation is also facilitated by the creation of a modern warehouse of vaccines and other immunobiological agents within the Center for Public Health and Nutrition of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Turkmenistan, according to today's newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan”.

Earlier, we reported that a briefing for the media on vaccination was held at the Center for Public Health and Nutrition of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.
