A book fair was held at the Dashoguz velayat library, organized jointly by the US Embassy in Turkmenistan, the Government of Turkmenistan and the American Corner of Dashoguz. The event was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi.

Numerous fair visitors took an active part in the event.

The fair was opened by the US Ambassador to Turkmenistan M. Klimow together with the director of the Dashoguz velayat library.

“The United States Embassy is proud to partner with the Government of Turkmenistan to host this book fair as we celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi. A good book is a companion, it becomes our friend”, - the Ambassador said in his speech.

As a token of gratitude, M. Klimow donated a collection of English-language educational materials to the library on behalf of the US Embassy in Turkmenistan.

Within the framework of the fair, a book exhibition was organized, where several classic works of American literature were presented, which the US Embassy translated into Turkmen.

To date, the Embassy has published 14 bilingual English-Turkmen editions of American classics. In addition, the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) program is currently working to restore some Magtymguly-era manuscripts, thereby strengthening cultural ties between the United States and Turkmenistan.
