Silver medals were won by the hockey players of the national team of Turkmenistan at the world championship in the third division of group “A”, which ended in South Africa.
The awards of the championship, held in Cape Town, were contested in a one-round tournament by five teams - South Africa, Luxembourg, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkmenistan.
The national hockey team of Turkmenistan in the final round of the world championship in the third division of group “A” lost to the national team of Taiwan and took second place in the standings. The meeting ended with the score 1:3. The Taiwanese team staked out the first place in the standings and promotion in the class.
In another match of the tour, the South African team defeated Luxembourg with a score of 4:0.
Thus, the final alignment in the third division of group “A” of the 2023 World Cup is as follows: Taiwan is in first place with 12 points, Turkmenistan is in second place with 6 points, South Africa is in third place with 6 points, and Thailand is in fourth place with 6 points. The Turkmenistan team turned out to be higher than its rivals due to the better difference between goals scored and goals conceded. On the last line - Luxembourg with 0 points.
The World Championship in the third division of group “A” was held in South Africa and ended on April 24. The winner of the tournament next year will play in the second division of group “B” of the World Cup.
Let us remind that Turkmen hockey players are two-time winners of bronze medals of the world championship in the third division of group “A”. The last time they achieved this achievement was last year at the World Championships in Luxembourg.
The team of Kyrgyzstan won the right to play in the 2024 season in group “A” of the third division of the World Championship, where the national team of Turkmenistan currently plays. Hockey players of Kyrgyzstan won five victories in five matches, scored 15 points and became the winners of group “B” of the third division.
According to the results of the tournament in the second division of group “B” of the 2023 World Cup, the Mexican national team took the last place and moved to group “A” of the third division of the World Cup. The matches were held in Istanbul (Türkiye). The Mexicans lost all five matches, losing to the teams of Bulgaria (2:4), Türkiye (0:5), Belgium (2:11), New Zealand (2:7) and the United Arab Emirates (4:9).
