Turkmenistan is preparing to send third plane with humanitarian aid to the victims of the earthquakes in Türkiye. This was stated by the Turkish Ambassador to Ashgabat Togan Oral.

Addressing at a charity event organized at the Turkish Visa Center in the capital Ashgabat to help the earthquake victims in Türkiye, Togan Oral stressed that Turkmenistan was one of the first countries to take action to help.

“On February 7, a 10-member medical staff went to Türkiye with medical supplies. Immediately after that, the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Fund collected humanitarian aid from public organizations, companies and citizens wishing to assist earthquake victims, which was sent to Türkiye by the second plane. At the moment the third plane is being prepared to leave”, the Ambassador said.

The Ambassador noted that Turkish state and people are making great efforts to heal wounds, inflicted by a terrible disaster hand in hand. He thanked President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for their words of condolence to the Turkish people and their wishes for a speedy recovery of the affected areas. Highlighting that Turkmenistan understands the urgent need of Turkish population for earthquake aid in Türkiye, Oral said:

“Needs change and differentiate from day to day. Therefore, we are trying to ensure that aid reaches our country and meets the urgent needs of the affected population”.

Accomodation and warm clothing are the most urgent needs at this point, the Ambassador stressed.

“We have started a plaid campaign to meet the need for blankets. We've already sent three thousand plaids to our country from our Turkmen brothers, and last night we sent another thousand plaids. At the moment, here in our Turkish Visa Center, we are constantly getting help and support. Until further announcement by the Embassy, citizens can come in and offer the help they need”.

Let’s remind that on February 6, two earthquakes with a magnitude of more than 7 points occurred in the southeast of Türkiye. The devastating earthquake was also felt in neighboring countries, including Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus and Iraq. For now, the death toll from earthquake in the southeast of Türkiye has reached 31,974, reported the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
