On February 6, 1840, a joint ratification of the Treaty of Waitangi by representatives of Great Britain and Maori leaders from the New Zealand United Tribes Union was held in a temporarily pitched tent with the name “accord building” in the Waitangi district of the New Zealand city of Paihia.
