In Ashgabat was held an official ceremony of announcement of 2023 as the International year of dialogue as a guarantee of peace

On Friday, the official ceremony of announcement of 2023 as the International year of dialogue as a guarantee of peace was held in a hybrid format at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The event was attended by representatives of the UN member states, relevant international and regional organizations and civil society.

In their speeches, the diplomats thanked the Government of Turkmenistan for its consistent work to promote a culture of peace throughout the world.

2023 was declared the “International year of dialogue as a guarantee of peace” in accordance with resolution 77/32 of the United Nations General Assembly by the initiative of Turkmenistan. Before that, Turkmenistan held extensive consultations with UN member countries, took into account constructive opinions and suggestions. The resolution was co-sponsored by 68 member countries of the Organization.

The Global Initiative “Dialogue as a guarantee of peace” has already been launched and it has become a clear testimony that Turkmenistan, being an active member of the world’s community, does more than only promotion of significant initiatives aimed at developing of wide international cooperation, meeting basic interests of all states and peoples, but also takes gradual steps regarding their implementation, is reported on the website of the MFA of Turkmenistan.

Earlier we reported that the year of 2023 will be officially declared as the International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace on 27 January.
