For the first time in history, a white card was shown at a football match, writes Sports.ru.
This happened during the match between women's teams “Benfica” – “Sporting”. One of the players became ill, teams of medical workers from both clubs appeared on the field.
When the paramedics managed to normalize the player's condition, the referee showed them a white card. Thus, the judge expressed his gratitude to them.
The fans greeted the judge's decision with applause. However, for many football experts and fans, this idea seems like a waste of time.
Let us note that the International Football Federation (FIFA) introduced the use of white cards in Portugal as an experiment, as one of the ways to thank the participants of the match for fair play.
