At present time, work is underway on the text of an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of a Turkmen-Russian university, in which it is necessary to take into account all the nuances and interests of the parties. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Konstantin Mogilevsky, reports the online radio “Voice of the CIS”.

Let us note that within the framework of the state visit of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin to Turkmenistan, a Turkmen-Russian business forum was held in Ashgabat, within the framework of which the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Gurbangul Atayeva met with representatives of the delegation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

According to Mogilevsky, the delegation included the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He also noted that one of the big and serious tasks is the implementation of the initiative of Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin to create a joint university.

“Currently, work is underway on the text of the intergovernmental agreement. It is necessary to take into account all the nuances and interests of the parties, not to make any mistakes. I hope that the schoolchildren who are currently studying will have the opportunity to enter this university in a few years”, said the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia.

Mogilevsky also added that almost 30 thousand students from Turkmenistan are currently studying in Russia. They bring Turkmen culture to Russia and, accordingly, are imbued with Russian culture. Returning to Turkmenistan, they become a kind of bridge between the countries.

As previously reported, the foundation of the Turkmen-Russian university could be laid as early as 2023.
