A new metro line to the main airport was opened today in Istanbul – a high-speed line connects the Kyagythane district with Istanbul Airport (IST), reports the “Anadoly” Agency.
In the first month, travel on this line will be free, this was announced at the opening ceremony by President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Then – from 9.9 to 12 liras, depending on the trip.
Trains on the new line will follow at a speed of 90-120 km/h, which makes the line the fastest in Europe. It will take 24 minutes to get to the airport from the Kyagythane station, and 12 minutes from the Gokturk station.
Let’s remind that in October 2022, the line M4 was extended to the Airport Gokchen (SAW), it means that now it is possible to reach both Istanbul Airports by metro.
As per the words of the Minsiter of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye Adil Karaismail oglu, in the future, the authorities plan to integrate metro lines to Istanbul (IST) and Sabih Gokchen (SAW) airports with a high-speed railway line between Istanbul and Ankara.
Flights of “Turkmen Airlines”, as well as Turkish airlines arrive from Turkmenistan to the Istanbul air hub.
“Turkmenistan” Airlines operates regular flights from Ashgabat to Istanbul five times a week. Turkish Airlines flies from Turkmenistan to Istanbul 6 times a week — flights are operated from Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi.
