This was stated by the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan, Director of the Second Department of Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zamir Kabulov on the air of the “Rossiya-24” TV channel, writes TASS.

“Russia will participate under the conditions that the partners of this project make such a proposal”, he said.

Kabulov also stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin, many years ago, indicated his readiness to contribute to such a process.

“This is an integral part of the Russian strategy of turning towards Asia, and this is its economic part, so we are ready to join this [project] with interest. <...> Russia has always supported this project as

important not only for Afghanistan itself, but also for the entire large Asian continent, which is experiencing an increased shortage of hydrocarbons”, Kabulov added.
