Football fans were shocked by the sad news - the legendary former football player Pele has died. A few days ago, his condition deteriorated noticeably, and the Brazilian himself said goodbye to his family, writes “Championat”.

Pele passed away on December 29 at the age of 82. Previously, the three-time world champion was diagnosed with heart failure. In recent months, Pele underwent chemotherapy, which, however, did not bring a positive result. In September 2021, Pele was diagnosed with a colon tumor, due to problems with which he was hospitalized in April 2022. In addition, he had health problems after hip replacement surgery, as well as kidney and prostate problems.

The sad news is commented on by world stars and football organizations from all over the world.

“Pele is dead. The most divine of all football players and the most joyful of men. He was demonstrating a game that only a select few came close to. Pele lifted the most coveted golden trophy three times in a beautiful yellow T-shirt. Even though he left us, he will always have football immortality. Rest in peace”, said former England international Gary Lineker.

“The king of football has left us, but his greatness will never be forgotten”, Mbappe wrote on his social media.

“My deepest condolences to all of Brazil, and in particular to the family of Señor Pele. The simple word “farewell” to the eternal King will never be enough to express what the entire football world is going through at this moment. He is an inspiration to hundreds of thousands of people. Pele will not be forgotten, and his memory will forever remain in the memory of each of us football fans. Rest in peace, Pele”, Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his condolences.

“The death of Pele is the saddest news that our organization has reported since its founding 108 years ago. In connection with the death of Pele, the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ednaldo Rodriguez, has declared an official seven days of mourning”, the Brazilian Football Confederation said in a statement.

Ronaldo dedicated the biggest post to the king of football:

“Unique. Brilliant. Technical. Creative. Ideal. Unsurpassed. Where Pele came, there he stayed. Never leaving the summit, he leaves us today. The king of football is one. The greatest of all time. The world is in mourning. The sadness of parting mingled with the immense pride of the written history. What a privilege to come after you, my friend. Your talent is a school that every player must go through. His legacy transcends generations. Thanks to this, he will continue to live. Today and always we will honor you. Thanks Pele. Rest in peace”.
