Uzbekistan aims to launch a joint border trade zone with Turkmenistan as soon as possible

Today in the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan was discussed the progress of work on the creation of an Uzbek-Turkmen border trade zone - a Trade Center in Shavat district of the Khorezm region.

As per uzdaily, the meeting was held under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Jamshid Hojayev.

The participants of the meeting analyzed in detail the progress of the implementation of specific tasks defined in the Protocol on the creation of the Trade Center.

In the reports of the responsible heads of the working groups, information was announced on resolving issues related to the allocation of a 3-hectare land plot in the Shavat district of the Khorezm region, the development and coordination of design and estimate documentation with all interested ministries and departments, attracting the capabilities of commercial banks to finance the project.

Moreover, aspects of coordination with the Turkmen side of the modes of the operation of the Trade Center, the application of benefits and preferences in tax administration, customs and border control were also discussed. The necessity of joint consistent and qualitative study of issues arising during the implementation of the project is stressed.

As the source notes, the participants of the meeting noted the importance and perceptiveness of the nearest launch of the Trade center for the development of trade and economic relations between the two states.

Let’s remind that the agreement on the establishment of the Uzbek-Turkmen border trade zone was signed on October 5 following a summit meeting in Tashkent. The agreement provides for the creation of a Shopping center in adjacent territories.
