Supermarkets in the Netherlands have organized a kind of help for the elderly and just lonely people who have no one to talk to.
The innovation is called Kletskassa – “cashier in the chat”. This is a special cash desk for people who are not in a hurry and are not averse to chatting with the cashier or listening to other people's conversations without getting annoyed by the fact that he is being delayed. A picture familiar to many: the cashier and the purchaser chat for a long time about trifles, and the queue behind is nervous and indignant.
The first such chat cash desks appeared back in 2019 within the framework of the One Against Loneliness social program, created at the initiative of a number of companies, organizations and citizen activists in order to help the elderly. Currently, Kletskassa is available in two hundred stores throughout the country.
