In the building of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, a meeting was held between the Deputy Chairman of the Service D. Bayryev and the Regional Representative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Central Asia, Ms. Ashita Mittal, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the 55th session of the Sub-Commission on Illicit Drug Trafficking and related questions in the Near and Middle.
As reported on the website of the customs service of Turkmenistan, during the meeting, the parties noted a positive trend in the development of cooperation.
The UNODC Regional Office in Central Asia is one of the main international partners of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, D.Bayryev noted. One of the important joint projects is the container traffic control program implemented by UNODC and the World Customs Organization.
Within the framework of this program, Port Control Groups were created on the basis of the “Farap Avtoyollary” customs posts of the Lebap velayat Customs, at the International Customs Terminal in the city of Ashgabat, as well as in the seaport of the city of Turkmenbashi, which through the “ContainerCOMM” information system interact with 10 countries to transfer information.
Ms. Mittal, as part of her official visit, plans to visit the Port Control Group at the international customs terminal in Ashgabat and the border cooperation office at the Imamnazar checkpoint in Lebap velayat, the source notes.
