The original World Cup has arrived in Qatar, completing a world tour of 51 countries, reports QNA.
During the tour, football fans had the opportunity to see the main trophy of the World Cup, the fight for which starts on November 20.
The cup weighs 6,142 kilograms and is made of pure gold. It is engraved with images of two people carrying the globe. This design was developed in 1974.
A few days before the start of the World Cup, the trophy will visit many businesses, institutions and charities in Qatar.
Its safety until the final match, where the cup will be awarded to the winner of the tournament, will be ensured by the Supreme Committee for the Organization and Legacy of the World Cup in Qatar, as well as the International Football Federation (FIFA).
According to FIFA rules, only former champions and heads of state have the right to touch the cup.
It is also worth noting that the original version of the cup remains with the winning team for a while. Champions will later receive a special gilded replica featuring the tournament flag, the host country and the winning team. The original trophy returns to FIFA.
