The first African American woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature is featured on a postage stamp. About this reports USA Today with reference to the US Postal Service.
As noted, the new brand will be released in 2023. For its design, a photograph of Toni Morrison, taken in 2000, was used. “Her artfully crafted novels explored the diverse voices and multifaceted experiences of African Americans”, the U.S. Postal Service explained their choice.
Morrison's most famous books include “Song of Solomon” and “Beloved”. The writer received the Nobel Prize in 1993, and five years earlier the Pulitzer Prize.
In 2019, the writer passed away at the age of 88.
