Turkmenistan will stop importing ammonium nitrate. This was announced at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held today, announced the news program “Watan” of the Turkmen television.
As Deputy Prime Minister Charymyrat Purchekov reported, within the framework of the work to fully provide the domestic agro-industrial complex with ammonium nitrate and stop its imports, the reconstruction and modernization of the “Maryazot” production association is planned.
After listening to the information, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov outlined a number of priority tasks facing the industry. Stressing that in order to supply domestic agricultural producers with the necessary fertilizers, it is necessary to achieve efficient operation of all chemical industry enterprises and systematically re-equip existing industries, the head of state addressed the Vice-premier with relevant instructions.
Earlier it was reported that the design capacity of “Maryazot” Production Association of the State Concern “Turkmenhimiya” is designed to produce 450 thousand tons of ammonium nitrate per year. The enterprise consists of two workshops for the production of ammonia. Due to the wear of obsolete technological equipment, major repairs and modernization of the main production facilities of the association are required to bring it to its design capacity.
Last year, the State Concern “Turkmenhimiya” purchased 140 thousand tons of ammonium nitrate from Uzbekistan in order to provide agricultural producers with mineral fertilizers.
