The national tennis team of Turkmenistan will hold a two-week training camp in Tashkent before the Davis Cup zonal tournament

The national tennis team of Turkmenistan will hold a two-week training camp in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). This will be the final stage of preparation before the start of the qualifying tournament for the Davis Cup (Group IV Asia and Oceania).

During the training camp, the team of Turkmenistan is scheduled to play friendly matches with the tennis players of the Uzbekistan national team.

Yuri Rogusskiy, Meylis Orazmuhammedov, Gurbanberdi Gurbanberdiyev, Hajy Charyev and Atlymurad Gurbanov will participate in the gathering. The process will be led by the head coach and captain of the national team of Turkmenistan Mirali Gasanov.

The Davis Cup Qualifiers for Asia Oceania Zone Group 4 (group “B”) will be held October 17-22, 2022 in Madinat Isa, Bahrain with 10 men's teams. These are Bahrain, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Guam, Kuwait, Mongolia, Singapore, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Teams will be divided into two subgroups of five countries. The top two teams in each subgroup will advance to the playoffs, the winners of which will be eligible to play in group III of the Asia and Oceania zone next year.

Turkmen tennis players have been playing in the Davis Cup since 2004. They achieved the best results in these competitions in 2015, reaching the playoffs of the Asia and Oceania zone group III tournament in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

The men's tennis team of Turkmenistan in the upcoming Davis Cup draw (IV group of the Asia and Oceania zone) will be seeded under the first number.

Let us note that according to the results of the qualifying competitions of the Davis Cup in the IV group of the Asia and Oceania zone in group “A”, the men's tennis team of Sri Lanka received an increase in the class. Competitions in group “B” will be on August 8-13, 2022 in Colombo (Sri Lanka). The Sri Lankan team won the right to play in 2023 in the III group of the Asia and Oceania zone.
