As reported on the website russianemirates.com, in the Emirate of Sharjah, starting from 2024, it will be prohibited to sell, manufacture, import or offer single-use plastic bags and materials. And from October 1, 2022, stores will start charging shoppers a fee of at least 25 fils per plastic bag.
At the same time, consumers will be able to purchase environmentally friendly reusable bags. This decision is aimed at protecting the environment from plastic pollution, and promoting a culture of sustainable development among the population.
