Turkmen freestyle wrestler Selbi Zahirova won a bronze medal at the VII International Sports Games “Children of Asia” in Russia. She achieved this success in the weight category up to 50 kg.
Gold in this weight category was won by Russian girl Margarita Yarygina, silver - Husniobod Sultannazirova from Uzbekistan.
The freestyle wrestling coach from Turkmenistan, in an interview with the official website of the “Children of Asia” games, said that his wards performed for the first time in the international arena and these competitions are very important for the country. Five participants represented Turkmenistan. Selbi Zahirova won the “bronze” despite the fact that she has been wrestling for a very short time - only 2 years.
Let us remind that the VII International Sports Games “Children of Asia” will last until August 8. Athletes aged 13-16 from 13 countries participate in the competition. They will compete for 273 sets of medals in 19 sports.
According to the results of six days of competitions at the “Children of Asia” sports games in Russia, the team of Turkmenistan with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals takes 9th place in the team standings among 13 teams with medals (21 teams in total entered the competition).
