Surajbek Sapaev from Turkmenistan won a silver medal in the weight category up to 96 kilograms at the Asian Weightlifting Championship among young men and juniors, which is being held in Tashkent. In the competition among young men (under 17 years old) five athletes were fighting for awards in this weight class.
Sapaev became the second with a result of 294 kg (135 in the snatch + 159 in the clean and jerk). The victory was won by Abrorbek Marufbekov from Uzbekistan (299 kg; 136+163), the top three winners were closed by Iranian Amir Hossein Sepah Ajerlu (290 kg; 135+155).
In June, at the World Youth Championship in Leon (Mexico), Surajbek Sapaev took fifth place in the weight category up to 96 kg with a result of 292 kg (132 + 160).
The Asian Championship among youth and juniors in Tashkent will end on July 25.
