From March 1, 2023, a law will come into force in Russia prohibiting drivers of taxis, buses, trams, trolleybuses and off-street transport related to the transportation of passengers and luggage for persons with an unexpunged or outstanding conviction for committing a number of grave and especially grave crimes.

The President of the Russian Federation signed the relevant law. As notes the publication INTERFAX.RU, the ban on working as taxi drivers will also apply to citizens, who have a criminal record for crimes of medium gravity. Besides that, this initiative also applies to employment contracts with citizens of the EAEU member countries, which include Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. With employees, who do not provide a certificate of no criminal record, the employment contract will be terminated.
