The diet of British schoolchildren from four educational institutions in Wales will include dishes with crushed insects. The project, which starts this week, will involve children from four to 11 years old, reports mir24.

At present time, the menu of school canteens, as a rule, includes lasagna, pasta and fish and chips. However, the authors of studies on baby food are confident that the new dishes will be a hit with students.

As the scientist, Christopher Bear noted: “We want the children to think of alternative proteins as a reality, not as the food of the future”. Besides that, insect farms cause less environmental damage than poultry farms.
