Turkmenistan Airlines will open a new route from Kazan to Turkmenabat from summer of 2022, and will also resume the Ashgabat–Kazan–Ashgabat flight program. This is reported by the official website of the Kazan airport.
Tatarstan will be the first and, at the initial stage, the only region of Russia connected with Turkmenistan by direct regular flights.
On June 1, 2022, Turkmenistan Airlines will perform the first regular flight to Turkmenabat from Kazan. The flight will be operated on Wednesdays, departure time from Kazan is 18:30, arrival at the destination at 23:30.
From July 1, 2022, flights to Ashgabat will be available to passengers according to the following schedule:
- On Fridays departure from Kazan at 10:50, arrival in Ashgabat at 16:20;
- On Sundays, departure from Kazan at 23:35, arrival in Ashgabat at 05:05 the next day.
Local time is indicated for each airport. The schedule is subject to change.
To recap, Turkmenistan Airlines launched regular passenger transportation on the Ashgabat–Kazan–Ashgabat route in 2016. The opening of the new route was an impetus for the development of business relations between Turkmenistan and Russia. In March 2020, due to the pandemic, regular flights between Turkmenistan and Russia were suspended.
From June 1, 2022, Turkmenistan Airlines will resume regular flights from Ashgabat to Kazan. In the opposite direction from Kazan to Turkmenistan, the aircrafts will return to the Turkmenabat airport.
