The State Award of Turkmenistan – the Order "For Contribution to the Development of Cooperation" – was delivered to the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko. The corresponding Decree on awarding was signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
According to the Parliamentary Newspaper, this award was delivered to the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation by Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Turkmen Parliament Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the Inter-Parliamentary Forum "Central Asia – Russian Federation" held in Ashgabat today.
"This high state award is a sign of great respect for you, an appreciation of your undeniable merits in establishing mutual understanding between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Russia," Berdimuhamedov said at the ceremony.
According to him, Matvienko has been paying close attention to the development of Parliamentary ties between the two countries for many years.
"Thanks to this work, the relations of the highest legislative bodies of the states have acquired a systematic and stable nature, gained new qualitative content," the Head of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan added.
The Order "For Contribution to the Development of Cooperation" was established on September 30, 2017 to award persons who have made a great contribution to the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and other states in the economy, science, technology and other fields, contributing to the strengthening of the country's power. They are awarded to outstanding state and public figures of foreign countries.
Earlier, the Order "For Contribution to the Development of Cooperation" was awarded to: in 2017 – President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, and in 2021 – President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
