The isolated mountains of the Big Balkhan will be included soon in the national system of specially protected natural areas of Turkmenistan.
According to the candidate of biological sciences Galina Kamakhina on the pages of the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan”, this activity will be carried out within the framework of the implementation of the updated National Forest Program.
The Big Balkhan ridge is called the “mountain island” because of its isolation. First of all, its uniqueness, is that it is surrounded on all sides by a desert – sandy, clayey and saline, which is why it contrasts with the surrounding world.
The biodiversity of these places is unique and requires conversation, notes the scientist.
