President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the new composition of Interdepartmental Commission to ensure the implementation of international obligations of Turkmenistan in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law by signing today the corresponding Resolution at a government meeting. It was informed by the information program “Vatan” of the Turkmen television.
As noted, the document was signed “in the aim of development of activities” of this commission.
It was proposed to develop a new version of the National Action Plan in the field of Human Rights in Turkmenistan for the period 2022-2028 at the Government meeting. This work is assumed to be executed by ministries, sectoral departments, public organizations that are part of the Interdepartmental Commission, together with specialized UN agencies. This Plan is meant to become a national instrument, including events and actions on implementation of obligations within indicated seven years period, coming from the National Program of Socio-Economic Development in 2022-2052 and international human rights instruments to which Turkmenistan has joined.
The Interdepartmental Commission on Human Rights in Turkmenistan was established in 2007. The structure of this Commission was improved in 2011, 2017 and 2019.
