Serdar Berdimuhamedov heard a report on preparation of Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan – Turkey summit

Today, during an offsite Government meeting in Turkmenbashi, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov heard a report of Vice - Premier, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov on the preparation of the summit of the heads of state of Turkmenistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey.

As per the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, the upcoming trilateral summit takes a special place in the Plan of international events to be held in Turkmenistan in 2022.

At the Government meeting, it was noted that today a large-scale joint work in various fields are executed in the framework of multi-vectoral partnership with these countries. Energy, transport and logistics, trade and economic spheres are among the priority areas. Great importance in the trilateral cooperation is also given to the combination of efforts in the field of the introduction of high technologies.

It is expected that one of the central topics of the talks between the presidents of the three countries will be the discussion of the possibility of withdrawing Turkmen energy carriers to Europe in connection with the signing of a Memorandum of understanding between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on joint exploration, development and exploitation of the “Dostluk” hydrocarbon field in the Caspian Sea on January 21, 2021 in Ashgabat.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, summarizing the report, stressed that the peoples of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey are unified by the centuries-old commonality of history, cultural and spiritual traditions, friendly and fraternal relations, which serve as a solid foundation for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the modern era.

In this context, trilateral summit meetings are high-potential format, which gives a real opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues of long-term partnership and point out its priority directions, taking into account the huge potential available.

While speaking of this, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Vice - Premier, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure a high organizational level of the summit, designed to give a new impetus to the activation of fruitful cooperation that meets both the interests of the three friendly states and peoples, and the goals of well-being in the regional and global dimension.
