Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk, who arrived in Ashgabat at the head of his country's government delegation, the Information Program «Watan» of the Turkmen Television reports.
The parties exchanged views on the potential of cooperation, highlighting such areas among the priorities as trade, fuel and energy complex, agriculture, transport and communication sector, light and processing industries.
The importance of contacts in the format of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, co-chaired by A. Overchuk, was noted, and the tasks to be solved within this framework were specified.
The interlocutors stressed the need to increase the volume of mutual trade, stimulate investment activity, and promote direct contacts between the business communities of Turkmenistan and Russia.
The President and his guest also paid attention to cooperation in the Caspian Sea, in particular, in the area of shipbuilding. The importance of building up cultural and humanitarian contacts was also noted.
It should be noted that Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who previously headed the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation from Turkmenistan, and Alexey Overchuk signed the Program of Economic Cooperation between the Governments of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation for 2021-2023 during the meeting in October 2021.
