President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the new composition of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan, appointing heads of law enforcement agencies at the expanded meeting today, the Information Program "Watan" of the Turkmen Television reported.
By his Decrees, the President of Turkmenistan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country appointed:
- Lieutenant General Begench Gundogdyev – Minister of Defense of Turkmenistan;
- 3rd Class State Judicial Counsellor Batyr Atdayev – Prosecutor General of Turkmenistan;
- Police Lieutenant Colonel Mukhammet Khydyrov – Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan;
- Colonel Gurbanmyrat Annaev – Minister of National Security of Turkmenistan;
- Colonel Yazgeldi Nuryev – Head of the State Border Service of Turkmenistan – Commander of the Border Troops;
- Senior Adviser of Justice Merettagan Taganov – Minister of Adalat (Justice) of Turkmenistan;
- Colonel Maksat Khudaikulyev – Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan;
- Lieutenant Colonel Nazar Atagaraev – Chairman of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan.
Deputy Prime Minister for security, military and legal affairs Charymyrat Amanov was removed from the State Security Council of Turkmenistan, whose position was abolished today. By the Decree of the President, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, he was also released from the post of Secretary of the State Security Council "in connection with the transition to another job." The Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Begench Gundogdyev was appointed the new Secretary of the Security Council of Turkmenistan.
For the first time, a new Minister of Internal Affairs, Police Lieutenant Colonel Mukhammet Khydyrov, who replaced Ovezdurdy Khojaniyazov, was introduced into the State Security Council of Turkmenistan. The rest of the heads of law enforcement agencies remained in their posts.
By appointing the heads of the law enforcement agencies, Serdar Berdimuhamedov completed the formation of the country's leadership after accepting the resignation of the full Government in connection with the inauguration of the President of Turkmenistan on March 19. On March 25, the new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers was approved. And on April 5, the heads of ministries and branch departments were appointed.
