An online meeting, dedicated to the results and achievements of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) was held in November 2021 in Glasgow by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the British Embassy and the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan.
As informs the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, this event was a continuation of the theme of the joint round table, held in March last year in Ashgabat on the eve of COP26. The representatives of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, foreign diplomatic missions, international organizations, students were participated in it.
The purpose of the meeting was the discussion of main steps to implement the decisions taken at COP-26 and methods for expanding cooperation in promotion the Glasgow Climate Pack.
Turkmenistan defines climate change as an integral part of the sustainable development of the country. in this regard, a number if important laws, programs and strategies aimed at sustainable development, taking into account climate change was adopted in the country.
The new initiatives for cooperation between national and international partners in the fight against climate change, which should contribute to the accelerated transition of Turkmenistan to a low-carbon, sustainable economy, were put forward during the meeting.
Let us remind you, that the Deputy Minister for Economic, Banking and International Financial Organizations Serdar Berdimuhamedov at that time, was head of the delegation of Turkmenistan to COP26.
