Putin congratulated the newly elected President of Turkmenistan by phone

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin cordially congratulated the head of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the successful conduction of the presidential elections during the telephone conversation today, TDH reports.

After the heads of the two states addressed their best wishes to each other and the peoples of both countries, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov handed over the phone to the newly elected President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Warmly congratulating the newly elected head of the Turkmen state on his convincing victory in the elections, Putin wished him great success in his activities in this important and responsible post.

The elections have become an important milestone in the modern history of Turkmenistan, demonstrating significant achievements in all spheres of state and society under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the leader of the Russian Federation highlighted.

During the telephone conversation the high level and constructive character of the Turkmen – Russian dialog actively developing in two-way as well as in multilateral formats was underlined. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.

We remind that on the 12th of March the early presidential elections were conducted in Turkmenistan, as per the results of which Serdar Berdimuhamedov was elected as the President of the country.
