The criteria of the “Golden Ball” owner determination will be changed, informs Sports.ru with a reference to the L’Équipe.

The “Golden Ball” will be awarded at the end of the 2021/22 season in 2023, where the results of the World Cup in Qatar will take into account.
The results for the season not for the year will be taken into account, according to the new rules. Also, individual achievements will be more important that trophies.
And one more new innovation is that only representatives of countries included in the top 100 FIFA rankings, will be able to participate in the voting for the award owner determination.
Now the main criteria will be not team trophies, but individual achievements. Titles will be the second most important aspect, and the third will be the player’s class and his commitment to the principles of fair play.
As a reminder, the “Golden Ball” owner in 2021 was the striker of “PSG” and the national team of Argentina Lionel Messi.
