Finland team wins first Olympic ice hockey tournament

The Finnish ice hockey team won gold medals at the Beijing Olympics. In the final match, the Finns outplayed the Russian team. The meeting ended with the score 2:1 (0:1, 1:0, 1:0).

Mikhail Grigorenko scored a goal for the Russian team (8th minute). The Finns scored Ville Pokka (24) and Hannes Bjorninen (41).

Thus, Finland won the hockey Olympic tournament for the first time. Before that, the Finns twice became silver medalists (in Calgary-1988 and Turin-2006).

In addition to the Russians, the Slovak team won medals at the 2022 Olympics, beating the Swedes in the match for third place with a score of 4: 0.
