First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Leonid Anfimov said that the CIS observers expect taking part in monitoring the Presidential elections in Turkmenistan. BelTA News Agency reported it.
Anfimov is confident that the Executive Committee will receive such an invitation from Turkmenistan in the near future, so the process of forming an Observer Mission is underway.
"At the recent meeting of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan, it was announced that observers, both domestic and international experts, will take part in the elections," Anfimov said.
To recap, the early Presidential elections of Turkmenistan will be held on March 12. The Election Campaign started in the country on February 14. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov was already registered as a candidate for the post of the President of Turkmenistan. Deputy Head of Mary Region Aghajan Bekmyradov was also nominated for the highest state post from the Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan.
