President of Turkmenistan gave specific instructions to organize the upcoming Extraordinary meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) on February 11, 2022 and the work of the legislative body. Today the head of state announced instructions during a working meeting with the Chairwoman of Mejlis (Lower House of the

National Council) Gulshat Mammedova and Deputy Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh (National Council of the People’s Council) Kasymguly Babayev, the Information Program "Watan" of the Turkmen Television reported.

Berdimuhamedov instructed the country's legislative body, Milli Gengesh, together with the Ministry of Finance and Economy as well as branch departments to determine the main directions of Turkmenistan's development for the next 30 years.

The Mejlis of Milli Gengesh was recommended to continue work on the modernization of the country’s legislative and legal framework taking into account positive international experience and generally recognized norms of international law.

Emphasizing that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the Turkmen Constitution the head of state instructed to prepare a number of measures to widely popularize the content of the Basic Law of the country as well as ongoing work to protect human rights and freedoms in this regard.

An instruction was given to thoroughly prepare for the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian Countries and the Russian Federation jointly with the Government of the country and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs scheduled for May this year and within its framework – the Dialogue of Women of Central Asian Countries and Russia.

In this regard, instruction was given to continue fruitful work on strengthening and developing inter-parliamentary ties and cooperation with representative international organizations.
