The Embassy of Japan in Ashgabat in its social networks announced an exhibition of Japanese unglazed ceramics "Yakisime: Metamorphoses of the Earth", that is planned to be organized from February 21 to March 13 at the Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan.
Yakisime is the most ancient method of producing ceramics, in which the product is not covered with glaze, but only fired at high temperature. As a result of firing, the clay is sintered and becomes so hard that it is water-proofed.
This traveling exhibition of the Japanese Foundation is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Turkmenistan and is one of many events of the Embassy planned to be held this year in honor of the anniversary date.
