The head coach of “Rostov”, a native of Ashgabat, Vitaly Kafanov, shared his opinion with journalists about the transfer of “Zenit” striker Serdar Azmoun to “Bayer”.
“Of course, I am pleasantly surprised by this news. I have no doubt that he will succeed in Germany. Serdar is one of the best RPL players. To be honest, I just found out about his transition. No, I haven't contacted him yet. Of course, this is a loss for Zenit. But this is a strong club, they will try to find a replacement for it”, Kafanov said in an interview with “Sport-Express”.
Let us remind you, that 27 years old Iranian of Turkmen origin Serdar Azmoun signed an agreement with “Bayer” until 2027. The contract will enter into force in the summer of 2022.
Azmoun spent his entire professional career in Russia. In addition to “Zenit”, he played in the RPL for “Rubin” and “Rostov”.
Vitaly Kafanov is well acquainted with Serdar Azmoun from his work at “Rostov” from 2015 to 2017 and “Rubin” (2013-2016 and 2017-2019). In those years, Kafanov was part of the coaching staff as a goalkeeping coach.
