Turkmenistan strengthened control at the state border zones and customs checkpoints. Deputy Prime Minister, Secretary of the Security Council Charymyrat Amanov reported it to the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a Government meeting today, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, border checkpoints are regularly disinfected "to prevent possible penetration of infectious diseases into the territory of the country."

After hearing the report, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized an exceptionally responsible and comprehensive approach to solving the important tasks set to prevent the penetration of infectious diseases into Turkmenistan.

- It is necessary to keep coordination of all services in the center of constant attention in this area and, at the same time, ensure strict control over the daily relevant measures at the border checkpoints, the Head of Turkmenistan stressed and referred specific instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister, Secretary of the State Security Council.

Earlier, Berdimuhamedov instructed to strengthen measures to prevent the penetration of the Omicron coronavirus variant into Turkmenistan and stated that one should be on guard at struggle with it.
