The new head of UNICEF starts work in Turkmenistan

Today he newly appointed head of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Office in Turkmenistan Mohammad Fayyazi, presented his credentials to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The head of state, congratulating Mohammad Fayyazi on his appointment to a responsible post, emphasized that interaction with the United Nations and its largest specialized structures, including UNICEF, is one of the key vectors of the foreign policy of neutral Turkmenistan.

During the conversations, was the sharing of priority directions of several bilateral cooperation and the prospects of its further increasing for decision of common purposes and tasks.

As noted, the practical guide here is the National Action Plan for the Realization of Children's Rights, which meets both the interests of the country and the global Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the intensification of cooperation in the context of the election of Turkmenistan to the UNICEF Executive Board for 2018-2022 and signed last year a solid package of joint documents.

Berdimuhamedov expressed special gratitude for UNICEF's support in the field of maternal and child health in the implementation of large-scale national projects carried out, among other things, within the framework of work carried out with World Health Organization to fortify food and provide the population with iodized salt, as well as to carry out childhood immunization, to cover which Turkmenistan leads the Central Asian region.

In turn, expressing his sincere gratitude to the head of state for the constant attention to cooperation with the UN Children's Fund, Mohammad Fayyazi assured, that he would in every possible way contribute to the successful continuation of the bilateral partnership, based on many years of experience of joint work and having great potential.
